Why You Need The iFit App

If you follow along you know that my tribe got together and got me a NordicTrack treadmill back in September. It is hands down the best gift I have ever received. Running to me is more than just exercise, it is also a huge part of mental health for me. The NordicTrack they got me is equipped with iFit and it has completely changed treadmill running for me. If you don’t have the iFit app, you definitely need it and here is why.

The hardest part about treadmill running is the monotony of it. The boring sensation of running and going no where. Well, iFit has changed that. With the iFit app you can pick from a plethora of trainers that have recorded runs all over the world. Running in beautiful locations has been a lifesaver in this pandemic.

The programs also incorporate speed and incline. If you have an iFit equipped treadmill it will be programmed to move along with the trainer. If you are using the app you can adjust your treadmill accordingly.

The iFit app has everything from hiking to tempo runs. Endurance jobs to half marathon training programs. You name it and you can find it on the iFit app. You want to run in Italy? No problem! They have a a series that takes place all over Italy with 8 different workouts. French Polynesia? Yep! Antarctica? Yes! That too! iFit has definitely opened my eyes to new places I want to visit that I had never thought about before. My favorites have been Slovenia and Croatia. Both are stunningly beautiful. weights, apple and tape measure

There are problems for runners of all levels. And the best part is you can also increase or decrease speed even if the program isn’t your pace. My husband and I both have favorite trainers and series.

iFit also has live sessions. These can be in a studio or sometimes even at a race! One of the trainers did a New Year 5k race live just the other day! The studio workouts are awesome, but you can beat the outdoor runs in beautiful locations.

My other favorite part of the iFit program is that all the trainers are very knowledgeable. You can learn a lot about your body and training from them. Tommy “Rivs” Rivers Puzey has a ton of training series and teaches you so much on each run. He talks about everything from the history of the location you are running in to the plant vegetation and all about your body.

The trainers in the workouts talk about RPE. The RPE scale is the “rate of perceived exertion”. The RPE scale is from 0-10, 0 being easy and 10 being extremely hard. They also talk about your recommended heart rate for certain workouts. Tommy Rivs talks a lot about this and how to figure it out. Your heart rate should be 77% of it’s max (220-age= your number then multiplied by 0.77=maximum heart rate for that run.

The iFit membership is way more affordable than a gym and you can use it anymore. Put the app on your phone or iPad to take it with you while traveling. lost of ifit equipment

The iFit app has programs for other machines too, including bike, row, elliptical and floor workouts like yoga. If you dread getting on the treadmill, try the app and spice up the workouts. You’ll get to see beautiful scenery and will probably learn some things too. 45 minutes on the treadmill passes like no time at all.

If you are looking for motivation the iFit app is perfect. Have a trainer encouraging you to keep going and push it a little further is just what you need. Give it a try!
