How to get off the couch and run a 5k

Here are tips for anyone looking to run a 5k for the first time.


Start with a good pair of running shoes.


First, if you are new to running,  focus on just doing 1 mile, 3-4 days a week. Try to run when you can and walk the rest.


Prioritize nutrition. Make sure you are eating healthy foods to help fuel your body.


Find a friend to run/walk with. This will help keep you accountable.


Build your mileage each week. Keep adding .25 miles on to your run until you are doing 3 miles.


Work on building your stamina. Try running further each time. Set a goal and make that goal a little further each run.

Once you have hit all these milestones you are ready for a 5k!
