Walt Disney World Half Marathon Recap 2015- Dopey Challenge Part 3

If you have been following along with my Dopey Challenge journey you know I ran into knee problems (no pun intended). You can read my 5k and  10k recaps here.  I woke up at 3:15am for the third morning in a row.  I KT Taped the bajeebers out of my knee and it felt a lot better.  My costume was Donald Duck.  I had a really good time making this one.  I made the little hat by hand.  I sewed a white skirt and put the feathers on and the pants and tank are from Athleta.  I then decorated the tank with the big bow that I made and trim.  The Disney World Half Marathon course is the same as Princess Half.  It starts near Epcot and runs down to Magic Kingdom, you make a loop through park, out by the Grand Floridian, and then head back to Epcot.

IMG_6543The race started at 5:30am.  When my corral was sent off I started running and wasn’t super sure how my knee would be, but it actually felt great!  I was a little nervous to stop for long picture lines in fear that it would lock up on me so I stopped for some quick selfies instead.  Of course I had to take the traditional pic with the Magic Kingdom toll plaza.

FullSizeRenderI loved seeing Wreck It Ralph and Vanellope out in the Magic Kingdom parking area.

FullSizeRenderNot far down the course from them was Jack Skellington and Sally.

FullSizeRenderThe DJ with the huge Mickey hands was in his normal spot on the overpass near the Contemporary.

FullSizeRenderComing into the Magic Kingdom is always amazing.  The spectators line Main Street cheering us on.  As we round the corner and see the castle for the first time it is gorgeous.

236008_181243361_XLargeIt is usually still kind of dark when I get there and seeing the castle all lit up is one of my favorite parts.

IMG_6556Buzz Lightyear was over in Tomorrowland.

FullSizeRenderThe Queen of Hearts was near the teacups.

I laughed and then felt a little bad for this random lady who has a great picture other then me, the crazy person in the Donald Duck costume next to her. I’m sorry random lady!

Running through the castle is always a highlight even though I rarely get a good picture of it. Lol

236008_180981271_XLargeFYI there are always photographers in front of the castle to take pictures if you want to stop.

236008_180933309_XLargeLiver Lips from Country Bear Jamboree was over in Frontierland.

236008_181453590_XLargeCinderella and Prince Charming were in the backstage area as we were exiting Magic Kingdom.

IMG_6569Mary Poppins and Bert were near the Grand Floridian.

IMG_6572Mickey in his golf outfit was near Shades of Green, but the line was REALLY long.  Genie and Abu was a little ways down the road.
IMG_6577We made our way back to Epcot.

236008_181408667_XLargeI finished and actually felt GREAT after. I was ready to take on the full marathon the next day.

IMG_6587I caught up with Daisy after the race.

Adorable! Although I am cracking up at Cinderella’s cold weather gown.

Looks like you had a blast! I only ran the full, but I have a feeling the half would have been more my style.
