Next week I’m embarking on a the journey called Dopey Challenge. I will be traveling 48.6 miles over the course of 4 days and through far off lands like Fantasyland, Animal Kingdom and Epcot. That means I need roughly 9 hours of music.
I’m reorganizing my playlist so it isn’t predicable, but I’m throwing in some new music and adding more of some old favorites. Here are some of what I will be listening to:
The soundtrack from the Disney movie Frozen- The whole thing is pretty amazing, but the Idina Menzel version of “Let It Go” actually gives me goosebumps. This song would be perfect for the mile 23 slump of the full marathon. I also love when Olof sings the song about summer.
Pitch Perfect soundtrack- I have had a lot of the songs on my running play list for awhile, but I’m adding even more. The whole soundtrack is super fun.
Anything Michael Jackson- I love songs that I can sing along to in my head so than I stop thinking about the fact that I still have miles and miles to run.
Eminem- For some reason his music helps pump me up a little bit.
Adele- I of course already have Rolling in the Deep, Rumor Has It and Set Fire to the Rain, but I also just added Someone Like You.
Disney- While running Disney, why not listen to some Disney? Hakuna Matata is great. I added You Can Fly from Peter Pan. Bear Necessities from Jungle Book. I have lot’s of The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and other Princess favorites. I also love music from the parks and have the Fantasmic and Electrical Parade soundtracks.
Dance Party Days- I love songs that bring back fun memories of lots of energy which is why songs like Pour Some Sugar On Me, Save A Horse Ride A Cowboy and any Bon Jovi are on my playlist.
I’m still debating whether or not to add any Lorde, new Katy Perry, Beyonce or anything else that is on the radio all the time.
What are some of you favorite playlist songs? I could use some more music. 9 hours is a lot of time to fill 🙂

“If You Believe” by Lisa Kelly (opening music from Tinkerbell and the list Treasure). It has a beautiful Celtic sound, is upbuilding, magical and fast paced. My 3 year old daughter loves that movie, but this adult loves the song.

Ohhh I love that song! I’m adding it right now! My 3 year old and I watch the movie 🙂

I need to take a look at Rock My Run. Never have before.

I also like RockMyRun a lot. They now have apps for both iPhone and Android. I like using the app because it allows me to stream both their regular and premium mixes to my phone while running. Many of the mixes are great too–the #Runchat mix is exceptional!

Every girl needs Katy Perry’s Firework in their workout mix.

I hate to admit it but a few of One Direction songs are my latest favorites on my playlist. The are fun and get me moving!

I really, really like Avicii’s music – some really great songs of his are Levels, Wake Me Up, Lay Me Down, and Hey Brother.
If you like great hard rock music, Guns ‘N Roses’ Appetite for Destruction is a great album that you can listen to from start to finish. It was released over 20 years ago but it still sounds incredible.
Also, if you’re looking for big chunks of music and enjoy techno\EDM, I would recommend DJ Tiesto’s podcasts on iTunes. They’re an hour long and they’re free. He releases a new one each week. I did most of my training for my first full marathon to these podcasts.
Another great song is Kings by Bass King vs. X-Vertigo. It’s a great song to pump you up during the final stretch.
I made a great playlist for half marathons last year – check it out here:

Good luck!
