Top 10 California Half Marathons

My blog name, Half Crazy Mama, stems from my love of half marathons.  It is the perfect distance. With proper training and some determination anyone can conquer this distance.  Here are 10 half marathons in California that you won’t want to miss:

  1. Disneyland Half Marathon– Did you know that years ago this was my very first half marathon?  I have ran it every year since then too.  Every mile is magic.  It takes place Labor Day weekend.
  2. Pasadena Half Marathon– This race was new this year and it finished inside the Rose Bowl.  How cool is that?!?!
  3. Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose Half Marathon– This course is great for a PR.  It is very flat and Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series always puts on a great race.
  4. San Francisco Giant Race– Whether you are a San Francisco Giants fan or not, this race is really fun.  It runs mostly along the Embarcadero, so it isn’t as hilly as a lot of other San Francisco races.  You get great views of the Golden Gate Bridge and you finish on the field at AT&T Park.
  5. Santa Cruz Half Marathon– This course is beautiful! You run through a park and along the cliffs looking out at the ocean.  The finish line is on the sand, but it is totally worth it.
  6. Surf City Half Marathon– Huntington Beach is the location for this race and in my opinion any place with the word “beach” in the name is usually a good race because it will be pretty.
  7. Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Half Marathon– The course isn’t flat, but it is beautiful! It is a large race so you have great people to run with and the spectators are amazing.
  8. San Francisco Half Marathon (First Half)– This race is during the San Francisco Marathon, so they offer two halves.  I personally think the course along the first half is more fun, but you really can’t go wrong with either one.
  9. Tinker Bell Half Marathon– Any race at Disneyland will be a great race.  This race is women centric, but by no means limited to just women.
  10. Rock ‘n’ Roll San Francisco– No lie, this course is really tough, BUT you get a great tour of San Francisco.  Enjoy the run while site seeing all the city has to offer.  What is your favorite California Half Marathon?
