Throwback Thursday- Photo From My First Trip to Disneyland

I love Disneyland, just incase you didn’t notice.  This is a picture of my sister, my dad and myself (the little one) in front of the Haunted Mansion, which to the best of my knowledge is around 1985 or 86.  This was my first time at Disneyland.  I was roughly 4 or 5 years old. (Now you know how old I am). My dad was a teacher, so going to Disneyland was a pretty big splurge for our family.  I have so many amazing memories of this trip.  This is when the characters still actually wandered around the park.

Did you notice my dad’s cool mustache, Mickey ears and his AWESOME 70’s disco style button down Sorcerer Mickey shirt.  My father passed away when I was 16 from colon cancer.  I think having these amazing memories at Disneyland is one of my favorite things about still going to this day.  I remember hiding my eyes on his shoulder while in the elevator of the haunted mansion.  I remember waiting in line for Splash Mountain in 1989 for hours the first summer it opened.  I remember seeing Fantasmic when it first opened in 1992 and my mom didn’t want to wait, so my dad told her to go sleep in the car while he waited with me.  He wouldn’t leave until I got to see it.  Than he drove through the night back up to Northern California instead of leaving at 4:00pm like we had planned, just for me.  That is a true Disney dad.

I love creating memories with my daughter at Disneyland and I hope she remembers them as fondly as I remember my Disney childhood.
