Thanksgiving Turkey Trot Against Poverty- Vero Beach, FL

On Thanksgiving morning I ran the Turkey Trot in Vero Beach, Florida that benefits Harvest Food & Outreach.  My little monkey and 11 year old niece joined me.  It was my nieces first 5k.  My Little Monkey was pretty tired because we were still on West Coast time, but I gave her the choice and she wanted to do it.

IMG_0566The race started at 7:30am.  The rain held out long enough for us to run/walk which was fantastic, but it was quite windy. It was a beautiful morning in Florida.

IMG_0578I had told the girls ahead of time that this race was purely for charity and there wasn’t a medal involved.  I think with little ones, who think every race involves a medal, it is important to clarify ahead of time.  My daughter was excited to run a race to help others.

FullSizeRenderWe definitely were not the fastest, but we finished the whole race and had a great time and that is what counts.

Did you run a Turkey Trot this year?
