One of my best friends has a son who is 9 months younger than my daughter. Our kids are such buddies it is great, but they are polar opposites of each other. My daughter hates being dirty, everything has to be pink and loves princesses. My friend’s son loves trucks, sandboxes and most of all Thomas the Train.
About 20 miles away from us is a place called Roaring Camp Railroad in Felton, CA. You can take a fun train ride through the redwoods and down to Santa Cruz, but on this special weekend Thomas the Train was coming to visit. I am so glad we went. It was a great family day.
The picture doesn’t do Thomas the Train justice. He was huge! My friend’s son, who will be 3 in December, was so excited. My daughter had a lot of fun too. Plus the 2 of them together is just the cutest thing ever.
They had all sorts of other fun activities too including 3 bouncy houses, bubbles, music, BBQ, a farm playhouse, gift shop and more.
The train ride itself was about 30 minutes through the redwoods and it was beautiful. We had tickets for the 9:30am train, which was the first of the day and it was still a little foggy.
We ate some BBQ and fed the ducks at the pond and played in the bouncy house and with the bubbles before we headed home. It was a great time with great friends.
My whole family agreed that even the regular train that goes down to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk would be lots of fun too and are adding that to our calendar before summer ends.
Thomas the Train travels all across the country. Here is a link for Thomas the Train schedule and tickets.
Have you seen Thomas or have a little one who would enjoy see him?
Tomorrow we are heading back over the mountains because I am running the Wharf to Wharf from Santa Cruz to Capitola. It is 6 beautiful coastal miles with a finish line at the beach. Hope everyone is having a beautiful weekend. 🙂

They are super cute! Love the reactions that kids have to things. My not quite 2 year old nephew is obsessed with everything a little boy should be (trucks, mud, dinosaurs) so I sent him a dinosaur shirt from the zoo (we live in different states). His mom said he kept saying “Wooooow! Roar!!!!” Over and over again.

It looks like so much fun! I looked and it doesn’t come by us. Darn!
