runDisney Race Weekend Check and Double Check List

rundisney_check_listWhen I have done a checklist for runDisney races in the past people have been pretty happy about it and I like making people happy.  Here is my check and double check list for a runDisney race weekend, since we are only ONE WEEK AWAY from the Disneyland Half Marathon weekend!

IMG_5601Waivers- Make sure to print and bring your signed waivers with you. This will save you time at the expo, so you don’t have to wait in line to print your waivers.  Remember, if you are running more than 1 race to print both waivers, i.e. Dumbo Double Dare and 5k waivers.  If your child is running the Kids Races, make sure to print those as well.

IMG_5604Costumes- I use ziplock bags to put each costume and all the pieces in.  This ensures that I have it all in one safe place when I need it and it doesn’t get beat up in my suitcase.

FullSizeRenderShoes- I am running all 3 races and will bring 2 pairs of shoes.  Just incase I run through an unexpected puddle or something I will have a backup pair for the next morning.  I also like rotating my shoes for races.  My feet are much happier when they put on a different pair or running shoes the next morning.

IMG_5602Charging cords- This applies to both your phone AND your Garmin or whatever watch you use.

FullSizeRenderReusable water bottle- Hydrating is SO important on hot race weekends like this.  Buying bottled water can get really expensive at the resort, so bringing a reusable water bottle and filling up at drinking fountains can save a lot of money.

Test Run- Do a test run in your costume to make sure there isn’t anything chaffing or uncomfortable. Remember to use vaseline or Body Glide for questionable areas.  Better safe than sorry.

FullSizeRenderDining Reservations- If you want to eat at a sit down restaurant I STRONGLY recommend making dining reservations.  Don’t plan on getting into a sit down restaurant if you don’t.  Some of my favorites are Carthay Circle, Blue Bayou, Napa Rose, and Ariel’s Grotto.

FullSizeRenderSnacks- Bringing snacks with you is a great way to make sure you are eating food your body is use to.  While Mickey Pretzels and churros are delicious carb loading, your tummy might get mad if that is all you eat and then run half marathon.  Rice cakes and peanut butter single serve packets are great to travel with.  Also remember to pack your fuel for the race.  The expo will have vendors selling Gu and such, but don’t 100% count on them to have the flavors or brands you want.

What are some of your tips? I will see you guys at the races!
