The Omni Shoreham- Perfect Hotel For A Racecation In Washington DC

Thank you to the Omni Shoreham for accommodations.  All opinions are always my own.FullSizeRenderI had the pleasure of staying at the Omni Shoreham on my trip to run the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon DC.  This hotel is alive with so much history.  Did you know that every president’s inauguration since Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1933, has featured a ball at the Shoreham?  Remember when Bill Clinton played the sax at his inaugural ball?  That was at the Omni Shoreham!

The staff at the Omni Shoreham was kind, gracious, and very helpful.  I was running late on Friday to get to the expo due to traffic from the airport.  I needed to hop on the metro ASAP to get to the DC Armory where the expo was.  The bellman kindly offered to hold my bags until I got back to help me save time.  He directed me to the nearest metro which is basically right across the street, so convenient! I made it in time and when I got back to the hotel I checked in, retrieved my bags and headed to my room.FullSizeRenderThe lobby of the Omni Shoreham is something to see.  It has a gorgeous collection of chandeliers.  There is a beautiful restaurant located right in the lobby called Robert’s Restaurant. It has nice views of Rock Creek National Park.FullSizeRenderMy room was incredibly spacious.  I had a king bed, a sitting area with 2 chairs, a desk and enough floor space to have a dance party!  The rooms are updated and the beds are incredibly comfortable.

FullSizeRenderI was starving, but exhausted from traveling and decided to order room service.  I had the half roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts.  All of it was delicious.  It was piping hot, which for me is key to good room service.  I also ordered the banana cream tart dessert with caramelized bananas.  Also delicious!

FullSizeRenderHaving the Omni Shoreham so conveniently located to the Metro is what you want in a DC hotel.  The Metro is very easy to get around on.  I took the Metro to the expo, to and from the race, and sightseeing all over DC.  Also in the neighborhood of the Omni Shoreham are restaurants and a CVS, which was very nice because I stocked up on bottled water to stay hydrated for the race.  FullSizeRenderI highly recommend the Omni Shoreham for your next visit to Washington DC.  It is a great hotel for a “racecation” to DC, offering everything a runner could need and want.
