My excitement is building for Disneyland Half Weekend and new Dumbo Double Dare Challenge!

Labor day weekend, a.k.a. Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend,  at Disneyland is such a fun way to end the summer.  Enjoy the Southern California warm weather while sipping on a dole float and than running 13.1 miles through the parks, the streets of Anaheim and Angel’s Stadium.  AND now this year it gets even more magical with the addition of the Disneyland 10k and thus the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge.

Last week we got to see the new bling (medals) from runDisney and I am now even MORE excited!  I think I’ve already narrowed down my costume choices for the 10k and half marathon.  My 3 year old is still debating her costume choice for her kids race.

My daughter’s first runDisney kids race at Disneyland Half 2011. I of course had to dress her up as tiny Tinker Bell.

This race will always be a favorite of mine because the Disneyland Half Marathon was the race that started it all for me some years back.  It was my first half marathon and my goal I set out to accomplish.  I was hooked.  If you don’t know my story, the short version is I got into running after having a hard ending to my pregnancy with my daughter.  I was having some postpartum depression and I really wanted to lose baby weight.  I have always loved Disneyland and have called it my “laughin place”.  I had heard about the Disneyland Half before, but never in my wildest dreams thought I could ever run a half marathon.  I signed up in February for the labor day race and started my training after having not run in years.  I made it to the finish line with a time of 2 hours 17 minutes and I was very happy and felt GREAT.  I was hooked I immediately went home and found a local half marathon the next month and than the next month and than so on and so on.

Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend is such a fun weekend for the whole family at Disneyland.  We are at Disneyland at least 4 times a year, but for some reason this weekend just feels that much more magical.

I dressed up as Rapunzel, at my daughters request, for the Disneyland Half 2012.

I can’t wait to unveil my costume choices for the Disneyland 10k and Disneyland Half Marathon!  Hopefully they will turn out like I hope.

Is anyone else running the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge with me?  Or anyone running Disneyland Half as their first race?

Love that pic of you and your daughter! Totally wish I was running Disneyland. I’ve only been once to Tink Half last year and I had a blast. Look forward to seeing your costume!
