I have been a fan of the Mizuno Wave Rider for years now. I have had pairs of the Wave Rider for quite a few models. Mizuno sent me a pair of the new Wave Rider 20 to try out and I am happy to report that I love them! I always get a little worried when running shoe companies change up the shoe for the new model, but I am happy to report that the changes made to the Wave Rider for 20 are all good things!
The Mizuno Wave Rider 20 features their “cloudwave technology” that they say provides an “overall softer, smoother ride” and I have to agree. The Wave Rider 20 is the perfect amount of cushion. It is like the Goldilocks of shoes, not too much and not too little, it is just right.
The Wave Rider 20 is a neutral shoe and the women’s shoe weighs only 8.3oz. It has a softer heel collar, which I love because it helps avoid irritation without losing heel fit. The Wave Rider 20 has a 12mm ramp.
The Wave Rider 20 is hands down the best version of the Wave Rider I have ever ran it. Mizuno corrected the little things that bothered me about the shoe. The cushion is perfect, toe box fits great, the shoe isn’t too rigid, it is a super smooth ride, and the heel collar is amazing. If you have been a fan of the Wave Rider you definitely don’t want to miss this version and if you have never tried the Mizuno Wave Rider I definitely recommend you give it a go! If you are a neutral running shoe person you should definitely grab a pair of the Wave Rider 20.
