How To Make A Summer Fitness Gift Basket

I am a runner.  I make a decision to lace up my running shoes, eat healthy meals, and stay active.  I love being active, especially during the summer.  It makes me happy both mentally and physically to go outside and run.  My sister signed up to run a 10k with me.  This is a very big commitment.  She wants to make healthier lifestyle choices and she knew that making the goal of running a 10k would mean she would have the motivation to workout.  Everyone hits a point in their exercise routine though where they hurt a little or lose the motivation.  This is why I decided to make her a summer fitness gift basket.  It is like a little runner’s care package of all the things you would need in the summer to stay healthy, happy, and working out.

I hit my local Walgreens and they had everything I needed.  The J & J Healthy Essentials display was right there with it all in one convenient place.

I thought I would put together a little tutorial on what I included in my summer fitness gift basket, so you might get inspired to give one to a runner in your life or someone you know starting a summer fitness routine.  Remember, sometimes the littlest things can create a big impact when it comes to making healthy choices.

The Essentials:

Band-Aid Flex Fabric 100t box- EVERY person will encounter a blister, cut, or some injury that will require a Band-Aid.  We have all been there before when we discover we are out of Band-Aids when we need one badly.  This is why the 100ct package is essential.

Neosporin Original Ointment-  For the same reason as above.  That blister will heal a lot better with Neosporin on it.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist SPF 70- Sunscreen is a MUST with any summer fitness.  I see way to many people only put sunscreen on their faces.  Encourage everyone you know to make the healthy choice and put it on their legs, arms, shoulders, back, hands, and everywhere else that is out in the sun.

Water- Proper hydration is one of the most important things for a healthy lifestyle, especially in the hot summer.

The Fun Extras:

gift_basket_snacksFun snacks- Making sure we have enough calories while working out is key to staying healthy.  Some snack ideas are raw almonds, saltine crackers, dried cranberries, and granola bars.

New Socks- This can lower the chances of getting blisters and keep your feet pain free.

Delicates Wash Bag- These little mesh bags can make sports bras and undergarments last a lot longer.  Not one wants a tattered sports bra.  That will only cause chafing, especially during the sweaty summer months.

A Note- Words of encouragement are a great gift for anyone.

Once you know what you want to include in the gift basket you will get an idea of how big it needs to be.  When picking out a basket make sure it can hold all the contents.  Other fun ideas instead of a basket are a cute little summer gym bag or a fun beach bucket.  Top it off with a festive bow.  I personally love a burlap bow, which you can find at any craft or fabric store.
