What I learned while running in 40 MPH wind…

My family and I are at my mom’s visiting this week and my Runner’s World Run Streak continues.  My mom lives in an area that sometimes can get very windy/gusty.  Today was one of those days.  When I woke up it was already windy and I knew it wasn’t going to get any better, so I just needed to grin and bear it.

40mph

This is what I learned while running in that 40mph wind…

3 miles quickly feels like 8 miles.

Your earbud cord will try to kill you by strangulation.

Wind at your back…awesome.  Running into the wind…not so much.

You will need to turn your music up even louder because the sound of the wind blowing past your ears is REALLY loud.

Running in the wind is much cheaper then mircodermabrasion, but you get similar results.

You quickly wish you didn’t wear contacts.

You will have the trails and sidewalks all to yourself because very few people are crazy enough to go running in 40mph wind…except for yourself.

When you are running against the wind you feel like a cartoon character from your childhood where you are running, but don’t look like you are moving.

Soon all you will think about is brushing your teeth because they feel gritty.

When it is done, you still feel better then when you started and you don’t regret the run one bit.

Do you live in a windy area?

I think people who have visited Vegas only think associate Vegas with heat. It can get windy here and for an asthmatic it’s a challenge. On the upside my lungs are going to get stronger.

It gets VERY windy in vegas. I have had many scary bumpy flights coming in and out of the Vegas airport. Good luck with it 🙂
