Illuminated Card Craft Project Inspired By Galileo Summer Camps

Every parent faces the same challenge, to keep your child learning and having fun during the summer.  My daughter absolutely loves learning and I don’t want her to stop just because it is summer.  Doing projects at home are always fun, but the social aspect of learning is important too.  Galileo Camps encourages kids to brainstorm and think like innovators, all while having fun.  They offer weekly imagination-sparking themes and in-depth majors like Digital Photography, Fashion Design, Inventors Workshop, Go Kart Builders, Video Game Design, 3D Modeling and Printing, and Chefology just to name a few.  My daughter and I created an Illuminated Card at home that was inspired by the Galileo Summer Camps.  

Galileo sent us the kit, but you can download instructions below on how to do this yourself at home.  

My daughter drew the card.  She wanted to make the sun and the inside of the flower light up.

I helped her place the battery and the copper tape where it need to be.

We cut the thread to the right lengths to connect the lights with the copper tape.  

Voila!  It worked!  My daughter was so excited.  Now comes the hard part… trying to decide who to give it to.
