I would guess that runDisney WDW Marathon Weekend 10k and Dopey Will Probably Sell Out First
Today at 9:00am (noon Eastern) registration opens for runDisney’s Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. Starting today the general public can register for all events. If you are on the fence and are considering the 10k or running the Dopey Challenge you should probably register early. What we have seen is that runDisney races are selling out quicker, especially new events. Since the 10k and the Dopey Challenge are brand spankin new this year this will be a big draw to people. While Disneyland races sell out WAY faster than Disney World races it will be interesting to see how long it actually takes, but I still encourage you not to wait especially if you are entertaining the idea of the 10k or the Dopey Challenge. Ready…Set…Almost time to go go go!

I had the same suspicion that you did, and it looks like we are both right! At this point the 10k is already at 80% full and Dopey is 69% full, so I am relieved that I signed up through Disney Visa early registration. Especially since I am missing out on the inaugural Dumbo Double Dare. Why do you think the Disneyland races sell out faster?

The Disneyland Halfs have a smaller capacity than WDW halfs, not by a ton, but enough. I also think that Disneyland is centrally located in a metropolitan high population area so it is easier to get to than WDW. Also Disneyland only has 2 races. I think all that contributes to it. I’m glad I registered early for passholders and didn’t have stress today like a couple weeks ago for Marine Corp Marathon registration.

I saw that registration was crazy! I am so glad to be a Disney visa card member, so I was able to register early. With the new restrictions on number of runners, I will continue to do that so that I can achieve my runDisney goal! Now if I could only figure out a way to get to do the meet ups too! 🙂

The meetups is like winning a golden ticket for sure! They are lots of fun, but sooooo small compared to how many people try to get in. Good luck and watch the Disney Parks blog to stay on top of the meetup info 🙂

Looks like you are right! Wow, selling out in a day is crazy fast though! Wish I was going to be there, but not this year. I’m hoping to register for Tink, but am getting nervous with how fast it will sell out!

Mark your calendar for the registration date and just be sure to register for Tink first thing that morning. Good luck!!!
