I Officially Registered for the runDisney Dopey Challenge

I did it.  I officially took the first step to completing the runDisney Dopey Challenge which is registering.  Official registration for the public doesn’t open until April 9th, but Disney Vacation Club members, Disney Visa cardholders and Disney Annual Passholders can register early.  Check you member site for the link for registration.

Dopey consists of running 48.6 miles in 4 days.  5k Thursday, 10k Friday, half marathon Saturday, and full marathon Sunday.  I have ran the Goofy Challenge twice and I’m very excited to run Dopey in January.

On registration I noticed the addition of womens tech shirt sizes being offered.  In the past runDisney has only offered this for the 2 women centric races, Tink Half Marathon and Princess Half Marathon.  Excited that they have heard us when we asked for womens shirts instead of just “unisex” aka mens sizes.

I have previously wrote a post on my thoughts about training for the Dopey Challenge: https://halfcrazymama.com/2013/03/25/thinking-about-how-to-train-for-dopey-challenge/

Are you planning on running the Dopey Challenge or any event at the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend in Janyary 2014?

If you can do Goofy, you can do Dopey is my thinking. Good luck whatever you decide to do 🙂

I signed up today. First day open to the public and already at 73% capacity! I’m glad I had a few extra dollars leftover from my tax refund…and that my hubby doesn’t mind that I spend all our extra money on races. 🙂 I’m thinking all four races are going to be slooooooowwww for me…but I don’t care as long as I get all those medals. Oh, and of course I am now going to have to do something at Disneyworld in 2014 so I can get the Coast-to-Coast medal, too. I ran the Disneyland 1/2 Three times and loved it. I just wish it didn’t sell out so fast!!

This last year runDisney offered registration early at the WDW Marathon expo for the Disneyland Half before it went on sale to the public (part of the reason it sold out extra fast). If they do that again take advantage of it so you can get your coast to coast and run the Disneyland half!!! Good luck and have fund and you have a wonderful husband 🙂

Signed up for the Dopey last night and could barely sleep thinking about it and how to train. I ran my first marathon in 2013 with very little training after having my second child in June. Scared to think about training but just want to finish!

You can do it! Just get your body used to doing back to back runs instead of days off between runs 🙂 Good luck and have fun!

I signed up last night, nervous and excited for this new challenge.

I did the Goofy plus 5K in 2011 and was planning on waiting another year to give it another shot, but the Dopey was too much temptation. I’m currently training for a May half, followed up by the Sea Wheeze half in August, so I’ll morph my training around those events. It’s going to be an awesome event!

Congrats on taking on Dopey! I’m very excited. I’m also doing the Sea Wheeze. This will be my first Sea Wheeze and I’m really excited for it. It sounds super fun. Good luck and will “see” you at both those races.
