The Marine Corps Marathon is one of the BIG marathons in the counrty. In 2013, there will be 30,000 runners. Most people rate it in their top 3 marathons in the country. It is ran the last weekend of October in Washington DC. Registration usually sells out in in a matter of hours and today was no different.
Since so many people were trying to register, the online system was very very slow and a lot of people complained about the process. This being said, if you didn’t get in and want to run there are tons of great charities that you can raise money for and get guaranteed entry. If you are interested take a look at this page for charity info: http://www.marinemarathon.com/Register/MCM_Charity_Partners.htm
I have ran other races for charity and it gives the race that much more meaning. You are not just running for you, you are running for something bigger.
I am so very excited to run this marathon. I have never been to Washington DC, which is hard to believe AND this race has been a bucket list race for me. I have heard it is amazing with great support along the way.
This means no slacking in my training. Click here to see my current race calendar: https://halfcrazymama.com/2013/03/08/my-2013-race-calendar-update/
Have you ran the Marine Marathon? Or is this your year? Any tips? 🙂
