If you are looking for a healthier version of chili this recipe is delicious! This better for you turkey chili is made in a slow cooker. You can also make this chili in an Instant Pot. I have made it both ways, but usually use my Crock Pot. This is a great healthy meal that you can make a ahead of time and freeze.
This turkey chili is my own recipe that I have tweaked and I am in love with it…so is my family. It is so easy and your home will smell so good as it cooks all day. I use extra lean ground turkey for the healthiest option. You can use just lean ground turkey or ground beef if you like, but be sure to drain the meat after cooking before you add it to the slow cooker otherwise it will thin the chili. Enjoy!
1 ½ lbs extra lean ground turkey breast
1 yellow onion (chopped)
2 cloves garlic (chopped)
1 can diced tomatoes
2 cans tomato sauce
2 cans kidney beans (rinsed and drained)
2-3 tsps chili powder
1 tsp dry mustard
¾ tsp dried basil leaves
¾ tsp black pepper
2 tsps ground cumin
½ teaspoon salt
½ tsp onion salt
Top with your favorite toppings liked chopped onion, sour cream, cheese, avocado, tortilla chips, or just enjoy by itself.

I totally agree. I also love the way the house smells all day while it is cooking in the slow cooker 🙂
