This place is HUGE! Gaylord Opryland has 3 huge atriums, 2,800 guest rooms, over 9 acres of gardens, an indoor water park, a ton of restaurants, and even an indoor boat ride! It is the largest non-gaming, in-hotel exhibition space in the world with over 700,000+ square feet of flexible meeting space.
I stayed in the hotel for two nights and found my room to be great. My only complaint, which is hardly a complaint, is that I had an atrium view room overlooking the waterfall and the water sound was pretty loud. With over 2,800 rooms it is large and spacious. They have four hotel room areas and you can tell the difference when you switch from one section of the hotel to the other because the carpets change. I thought for such a large hotel, this is a great way to help people not get lost. (P.S. I still managed to get a little turned around at times though. )
When I did a site visit for Gaylord Opryland it was at Christmas time. The decorations were INCREDIBLE! They host Gaylord Opryland’s A Country Christmas, which is lavish holiday displays featuring more than three million twinkling lights and festive décor. Experience the yuletide atmosphere and events with exclusive Christmas packages. They also have ICE!, which is an indoor winter wonderland boasting more than 2 million pounds of ice to play and slide.
SoundWaves is the newest addition to the Gaylord Opryland Resort. It is an amazing indoor water attraction with fun for the whole family. SoundWaves is 4 acres of combined indoor rides, relaxation, and seasonal outdoor water amenities. I had the pleasure of enjoying a cocktail party at the Status Cymbal™, an adults-only pool and bar on the top indoor level. The drinks were amazing. They have several of their signature cocktails that are served in these amazing souvenir cups that look like water droplets.
Can I also mention the sparkling wine with a popsicle in it?!?! ?
They also have party rooms you can rent out. I wished I lived closer because this would be a perfect place for a birthday party of any age.
The 4 main areas are the Cascades, Delta, Magnolia, and Garden Conservatory. Each area has different shops, gardens, restaurants, and fun things tucked in every corner. The Delta Atrium is where the boat ride is. This Small World style boat, but without the talking dolls. Near the docking area for the boat ride is a cute little shopping area that reminded me of New Orleans, with lots of iron railings. They even had a fun toy shop.
Gaylord Opryland has every restaurant you could imagine from steak to Mexican, Italian to Japanese restaurants followed by a frozen yogurt or gelato dessert. They have several fun bar areas for just some apps and drinks too. I ate dinner at Ravello and enjoyed the Italian cuisine. It was delicious, but not overly heavy like some Italian food can be. We also loved The Falls Bar & Lounge with their tapas-style menu, wines, hand-crafted cocktails, bottled beer and champagne. It is located in the Cascades Atrium overlooking twin waterfalls.
