Easter Weekend In Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is one of my happy places.  Out of all the places I have visited in the world I still consider it to be one of the most beautiful.  My little monkey turned 6 on Friday and she wanted to celebrate by going to Tahoe (it is one of her happy places too).  Our Spring Break is unfortunately not for another week, so we only had the option of going up for just the weekend.  We left Friday evening after little monkey was done with dance.We got to my mom’s house about 11 at night on Friday (little monkey’s birthday). Despite the late night my mom still had an ice cream cake waiting for her.We got up the next morning and headed to Squaw Valley to do some skiing.  Up until now little monkey had only skied and rode up on the “magic carpet” before.  She successfully did her first chair lift and made it off all by herself.  I was very proud.  I could tell she was very proud too.When I was little my mom was NOT a skier due to a huge fear of heights, both the chair lifts and being at the top of the mountain looking down, but my dad would always take me.  He passed away when I was 16 and I still think of him daily…more so on this day though when we were skiing!  I have even more respect for him now.  Little Monkey is 6 and not getting any lighter.  Between her holding onto my pole and me pulling her through the flat parts, lifting her up when she gets tangled in her own skis, and carrying all her gear gave me the overwhelming reality of how much of a workout my dad did when I was little all those years and never once complained.  My arms felt like noodles that evening.  It was a magical day.  After we finished skiing Little Monkey spied the bungee jumper in the Squaw Valley Village and of course had to do it.She was laughing hysterically the whole time.For Easter we love the buffet brunch at Lone Eagle Grille in Incline Village.  Little Monkey definitely ate her fair share of sugar.This has been our tradition for a while.  It was windy and a little chilly, but the lake looked beautiful.My mom was so excited to spend the weekend with us adventuring all around. I hope everyone had a beautiful Easter!
