Dopey Challenge Part 2- Walt Disney World 10k Recap 2015

If you read my 5k recap then you know my knee was bothering me. I was a little worried about just finishing the Dopey Challenge without doing damage to my body.  I woke up at 3:15:am to get to the 5:30am start on time.  It was a cold morning, but not nearly as bad as the 5k.  I dressed as old school classic Minnie.  I want to give a HUGE shout out to Vanessa.  I found her on Etsy and bought the Minnie Mouse hat and ears that she crocheted.  She is super talented.  When I got the hats in the mail they completely exceeded my expectations. I love supporting creative and talented people.  You can check out her Etsy shop here.

IMG_5026The race started and my mind set was to run as long as I could before stopping.  Where my knee started to bother me the day before was when I would stop for a picture it would almost feel like it was locking up on me when I would start running again.

FullSizeRenderDuring the first half mile Anna and Elsa were up above on an overpass as we ran below.

FullSizeRenderAt mile 1 was the White Rabbit.  I didn’t stop.  Not far beyond was Stitch.  I also didn’t stop for him.  We ran for about another 2 miles before entering Epcot.  Mushu from Mulan was out in China.

FullSizeRenderI love Genie and he was out in Morocco.

IMG_6528There was a huge line at ESPN over at Boardwalk and from previous races I’m guessing it was football Goofy, but when I ran by he was on his “break” so I’m not 100% positive.  Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum were near the entrance to Epcot backstage area around mile 5.  The light up Mike Wazowski and Sebastin were in the backstage area around mile 6 (in the area during the half and full marathons where the choir is).

IMG_6523I finished the race in one piece and my knee didn’t feel any worse.  Yay!

IMG_6531I caught up with Daisy Duck after the race.

Did you run the Walt Disney World 10k?
