Last year I decided to run a trail race near me 3 weeks before Dopey Challenge. It was a trail that goes through the redwood forrest so it has lots of tree roots and rocks. My ankles rolled a little while running. My ankles felt tender after the race, but nothing major. That night though my left ankle looked like this.
I did some serious icing, elevation, and compression to get it back into shape by Dopey Challenge. It bothered me a little during the race, but was over all ok.
This year I didn’t even sign up for any December races, but my ding dong self decided on a rainy day to take my daughter to the indoor trampoline park. I once again learned my lesson. I felt my knee tweak at one point. It hurt a little, but not very much. It doesn’t hurt day to day at all. It only starts to hurt while running. I once again am icing etc. I’ve taken a couple sports medicine classes and there is not a tear because A. I’m not in excruciating pain and B. There is no sideways movement when I move the top and bottom of my leg separately. My doctor is closed this week and pretty sure he would just tell me rest and ice anyways.
Here is my question: I am going to either get a brace or tape of some sort. Any knee recommendations on what you guys use and like would be awesome. Ace brace? KT Tape? Or suggestions? Thank you 🙂
