I ran the Divas Half Marathon San Francisco for the first time and LOVED IT! Let me just start by saying that. I had never ran any of the Divas Race Series races before and had actually heard mixed reviews. I thought I would give it a try since it was only 45 minutes from home and sounded like fun. Although the race is called the San Francisco race it actually takes place in Burlingame, which is about 20 minutes south of the city.
When I arrived race morning the parking directions were spot on and the shuttles to the race start were abundant. I arrived 45 minutes before race start which was at 7am. Bag check was well organized and the volunteers were great. I headed to the race start. It was a self placed corral system, which as most of us know, doesn’t always work. The DJ was playing super fun music and I was feeding off the energy of all the ladies. I had never seen so much pink at one place in my life…not even at the Barbie aisle at Toys R Us.
The race started and I was off. The weather was in the 50’s and perfect. I was maintaing a comfortable pace. I decided to wear my running capris under my Sparkle Athletic skirt last minute since it was a little breezy and I didn’t want to get cold. I paired it with my INKnBURN Rock N Roll tank.
The course was an out and back with part of it being a loop. The course runs along the San Francisco Bay coast, partly on streets and partly on a paved trail which is nice and flat.
At mile 13 there is a tiara and boa stop where they had them out so you can put them on before you cross the finish line. I thought that was super cute.
After you cross the finish line a group of good looking half naked “firefighters” give you your medal. After the medal you are handed a rose, followed by a glass of champagne. I wish all races could end with this kind of treatment!
I had a great race and finished in 2:06:45 which is the fastest half I’ve had in awhile.
The medal is heavy, like runDisney medal heavy. It is a very good quality medal and all the awesome swag just helped feed to the fun atmosphere. I would DEFINITELY recommend this race. I had such a great time.
Have you ever ran a Divas race?

I’m doing the Atlanta Diva Half in September. It’s actually in Peachtree City which is about 10 minutes from my house and looks like a fun race. About half of the route is run along the golf cart paths I run on all the time. It’s going to be my first half and I’m excited for it. The champagne and roses sold it for me. Lol
