I love the selection that Lucky Supermarket has and all their fresh finds, especially with their Pick 5 sale on meat. All different types of meat, chicken, turkey, steak, ground beef and even frozen items are on sale 5 for $25! It is so easy to locate what is on sale because they have the big “Pick 5” stickers right on the packages, so there is no guesswork involved. I love to stock up and freeze. The Pick 5 sale is the perfect time to make meatballs, which is my daughter’s favorite meal.
If you ask my 3 year old what she wants for dinner she will always say meatballs. I can’t blame her though because these meatballs are quite delicious. With the Lucky Supermarket Pick 5 for $25 I can get a lot of bang for my buck, a.k.a A LOT of meatballs.
I gathered everything else I needed while shopping at Lucky Supermarket including onion, basil and romano cheese with the help of my 3 year old daughter.
Here is my recipe (actually my husband’s family recipe):
Delicious Meatballs:
1- 1 1/4 lbs ground beef (85%-93% is my personal preference for taste)
3/4 cup italian breadcrumbs
1/2 cup shredded romano cheese
1 egg
1/2 diced yellow onion
1 handful fresh basil finely chopped (6-8 leafs depending on the size)
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp garlic salt
Mix everything together gently in a bowl. You don’t want to over mix the ingredients because it will make your meatballs dense. Mix the ingredients loosely. Spray a frying pan with nonstick cooking spray and heat pan with medium heat. Form mix into loose meatballs and place in frying pan.
You want to cook them a couple minutes on each side so there is a good crust on the meatballs. Make sure they are cooked thoroughly and there is no pink left in the center.
You can serve them with pasta and sauce, as a meatball sandwich or even just eat them by themselves. They make a great appetizer, just insert toothpick, place on a platter and voila!
