My first piece of advice is if possible RUN BOTH! Ok, so if that isn’t possible it is a tough decision. I’m here to offer a little info on both races to help you made an educated decision.
First off, the obvious: one is only 10 miles and the other is 13.1 miles. Not that big of a difference, but if you are relatively new to training that might make a difference to you.
If you ran either the Tinker Bell Half Marathon this year or are planning to run the Disneyland Half Marathon this year I would say pick Wine and Dine hands down because than you get the super cool Coast to Coast medal! The Tower of Terror doesn’t count towards coast to coast since it is a 10 miler.
Wine and Dine is the weekend after the ING NYC Marathon, which is a pretty big race. If you are running NYC you might want to pick Tower of Terror since it is a month before. On the flip side, the Wine and Dine Half would be an amazing party and seem like a vacation run to celebrate after the NYC Marathon.
Although they are both night races, the courses are totally different. Wine and Dine you run through Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and finish in the parking lot of Epcot where the after party is. Tower of Terror you run through ESPN Wide World of Sports and Hollywood Studios where you finish and the after party is in Hollywood Studios.
You might want to consider which park you want to party at afterwards, Epcot of Hollywood Studios?
The medals:
Hopefully this will help your decision if you have to make one.
So now I’m curious, which one are you running, Tower of Terror or Wine and Dine? I will “see” you at both!

I’ll be at W&D while my bestie, Vic, will be at both. Wish I could financially swing both but I’ll just have to live vicariously though others for ToT! 🙂

Registered for TOT! Still debating if I should wait till their 5th anniversary run next year and do the Coast to Coast medal then. Got closed out on Disneyland this year:-(

My first instinct is to say run both! BUT if you just want to run one or the other Coast to Coast next year is a good reason. 🙂 Good luck!!!

Great article. I ran the TOT last year and I recently pointed out many of the same conclusions on a Disney Forum.
The deciding factor for me comes down to if you are more interested in the route during the race of the party afterwards. If you are more interested in the route, then I think the Wine and Dine is the way to go. If you are more into the after party, then I would go with the TOT which has better rides. (IMO)
Keep up the great posts – we will be there for Marathon weekend as I am doing my first Full. Eeek!

Thank you! It is hard to go wrong when picking any runDisney race, but I agree the course or the after party are probably the best deciding factors. I never stay at the after parties since I have a now 3 year old. Maybe this year will be my party year 🙂
Good luck on the full. I LOVE marathon week at WDW and you can’t beat running through all 4 parks for the full! I will “see” you there.
