Thank you to Cricut for providing me the product to create this costume.
I had a lot of people ask for more details about my Wilderness Explorer costume that I ran in for the runDisney Disney World 10k in January 2020. If you are a fan of the movie UP, then you might want to recreate Russell’s look with this fun running costume idea. With the help of my Cricut Explore Air 2 and Cricut Easy Press 2 I was able to make this costume right at home. If you are running a Disney race, you will see more people in costumes than not.
The Cricut Easy Press 2 is what made this costume so easy to make. It is large in size so it makes pressing the Cricut Iron-On super easy because it can press a lot at once.
Using the Cricut app I was able to cut a bunch of iron on vinyl circles out of different colors. I then used the Easy Press 2 to iron them on to a brown sash. Here is the finished sash. Remember from the movie, one is missing because Russell is working on getting that patch.
For the shirt I did multi layers to do the Wilderness Explorer logo. I actually got the logo file from Etsy. This costume was really easy to make, but also turned out super cute.
The best part about costumes like this is that it is super recognizable that I am a Wilderness Explorer and the spectators were cheering me on like crazy, which is such great motivation. Don’t be shy about a costume, that is part of the fun of a runDisney race.
runDisney races are always more fun in costume. I also love seeing everyone’s costumes and what ideas they came up with. Here are two other posts of making costumes with my Cricut.
