Chicago Marathon Here I Come

photo

Fingers crossed.  I board my plane at 6:30am for Chicago via Minneapolis.  I land at 2:35pm and need to pick up my bib by 6pm when the expo closes.  It will be cutting it a little closer than I would like, but it is what it is.  I get up and run the Chicago Marathon Sunday morning.  I am beyond excited.  I have a love hate relationship with full marathons.  I love races and I love medals, but I hate miles 16-22.(Just Keep Swimming)  The Chicago Marathon course is pretty much as flat as it gets though, cheers to that.

Side note.  I had a tumor removed from my back 3 years ago, but as a result I have some scar tissue that has formed causing me discomfort and often feels like my muscles are being pulled.  For some reason this last week has been really bad and I’m praying that the running will help, rather than hurt.  I’m going to do some serious stretching, but overall I feel really great going into this race.

I am running Nike Women’s SF next weekend and also the Marine Corps Marathon the weekend after that, so with 3 races back to back I won’t be aiming to PR, but go out and see what I can do 🙂

Who will I be “seeing” at the Chicago Marathon?

Good luck! You’ll do great! I’m with you–much prefer half over full for those same miles–but it’s kinda fun to do the crazy marathon once in a while!

Thank you! Miles 18-23 were pretty brutal, but I had a GREAT time. 🙂
