All My Thoughts On Disney’s Aulani Resort

Warm sand between my toes, sunshine on my face, and a lava flow in my hand.  Who wouldn’t dream of that right?  Disney’s Aulani Resort on the island of Oahu, Hawaii is what family vacation goals are made of.  

We went to Hawaii the first week in December and the weather was perfect.  Not too hot or cold.  Our best family friends came as well and it was the ultimate family trip.  

We swam in every pool. 

Played on the beach. 

Ate Mickey shaved ice.And of course a Dole Whip. 

We were spoiled and had cabanas by the pool a few of the days. 

We also had the executive lanai down by the beach one day. 

At the beach shack you can get boogie boards at no charge to enjoy in the ocean lagoon.  You can also pay to rent a paddle board. 


There are two main pools.  The infinity pool was colder than the big pool where the waterslides are.  I’m not sure if that is how it always is or just when we were there. At the big pool they do the party, which is a ton of fun.  They play water games with the kids and characters make an appearance. 

Let’s talk food! The açai bowl for breakfast at ‘ama’ama was my favorite!  So incredibly delicious.  Tip: make dining reservations at the two Disney restaurants ahead of time.  

Character breakfast at Makahiki was great too.  They had all the traditional American fair, plus a large Japanese section at the buffet.  I can totally get on board with miso soup for breakfast. 

The lazy river was probably one of our favorite things of all.  I could relax in that lazy river all day. 

One of the best parts about Disney’s Aulani Resort is Auntie’s Beach House, which is the kids club there.  Our kids LOVED going and playing the games and doing the activities.  They could even eat dinner there, which gave the adults time to have a nice relaxing meal at ‘ama’ama. 

If you want to snorkel, but don’t want to go way out in the ocean there is a manmade saltwater pool lagoon in the middle of all the pools and waterslides.  Disney rents snorkels and you can swim around and see the fish in a nice contained setting.  


Want to take an adventure out beyond the Disney Aulani lagoon?  You can charter the canoe boat to take you out. 

Both families had an incredible time at Disney’s Aulani Resort and we will definitely be back.
