We are up near Lake Tahoe visiting my mom. She lives at an elevation of approximately 5500 ft. Since I am on my Runner’s World Run Streak, plus training for a bunch of races in the near future, I went for a run this morning. The first half mile felt like the equivalent of running 5 miles at my normal sea level. Once I got past that it started to feel really good. My endorphins kicked in and I loved it. Had a great 5 mile run. At my mom’s I usually run an out and back since I don’t know all the roads super well. I had wished I ran further out by the time I got back to my moms. I can’t wait to run again tomorrow…and for longer! I am definitely half crazy.
On a side note, this is a cute picture of my daughter playing in the baby pool my mom got her. She loves coming to “Nana’s” house.
Do you live and train at a high elevation?
