I recently had the pleasure of throwing a baby shower for one of my best friends, who was having baby boy number 2. She was hesitant on having a shower for her second child, but I said that number 2 is no less special than number 1!
We decided to just down scale a little bit and make it a little less formal.
For decorations I used cute little onesies double stick taped to a hurricane type vase. Just unsnap the bottom of onesie and slide over vase. Than the mom also gets to keep the cute onesies.
For food I did a simple menu:
Arugula salad with tangerine segments, toasted like nuts and goat cheese
Fruit salad
Caprese salad with fresh mozzarella, heirloom, Roma, and beefsteak tomatoes, basil and a balsamic glaze
Hot brie with fig jam and roasted garlic
Feta, ham, and caramelized onion tarts
Cheese platter
Assorted breads and crackers
Assorted flavor mini cupcakes
For games we played a game I call “The Price is Right”. You purchase smalls things for the mom to be and save the receipt so you have the total they cost. You put the items on a tray or table and everyone has to write down their guess of the total of all the items.
We also made quilt squares. I bought a bunch of different fabrics and fabric glue and fabric pens. We precut the fabric in 5 inch squares. Than all the guests each decorated a square. We will than turn them into a quilt for the mom to be to have forever.
It was a very fun afternoon of women crafting, eating, socializing, and celebrating baby and mom.
For favors I normally do the standard cutely decorated sugar cookie tied up in a cute little bag. I wanted to do something a little different. So I bought a bunch of boxes of Newman’s Own microwaveable popcorn. I picked that brand because at least some of the proceeds go to a kids charity. Than made a little paper sleeve and logo that says “About to Pop” and the baby shower info. I used a paper that is thicker than normal paper, but not quite as thick as cardstock. They were a big hit!
The mom to be had her beautiful healthy baby boy 9 days later. Weighing in at 9lbs 2oz and both mom and baby boy are doing wonderful.
Want to come back to this? Pin it for later! ??

What a cute idea putting onesies on the vases! I’ll definitely have to remember that for when I throw a baby shower next!

AWWW! I love this! My sister and sister-in-law are planning my bridal shower that’s in two and a half weeks. I love seeing creativity. I love all the shirts on the floral arrangements and the hydrangeas! Also, everything printed is so cute!

Thank you! I love throwing parties. I threw a bridal shower for a friend and used these corset purses as centerpieces that I put vases in with flowers. That was cute too. Finding random cute things and making them into decorations is always fun. 🙂
