As soon as you wake up and roll out of bed you can do some stretches to get your body ready for the day. Whether you opt to do a few simple stretches or some yoga, you’ll be able to sneak either of these options in during that first portion of your day with ease.
If you’re going to run errands or live close enough to work that you can ride a bike instead of driving, do it. Riding a bicycle to run errands or get to work each day is the perfect exercise to help keep you healthier no matter how busy your day is. It is a great way to burn some calories instead of spending time sitting in the car.
If you must drive to run errands or get to work, then choose a parking spot that’s further away from the entrance. This forces you to get a little more of a walk in as you head to work or into the store to complete some errands. If you do this regularly all those extra steps add up!
Whether you keep weights near your desk or use an under the desk pedal exerciser, it’s important that you have something near your desk that allows you to get a little exercise in while you work. You can easily wear some weights on your ankles and arms to get exercise without trying. If you work from home a desk bike is a great option. You can read about the one I have here.
If you have kids and find that you’re often at the park, their sporting events, or outdoors while they play, you could easily get some exercise in. While you’re attending their sporting events you can run in place or play with the younger kids as your older kids participate in their sporting event. While at the park actively climb and run with your kids instead of sitting on a bench watching. All those is burning calories. If they are outside riding scooters, run along side of them. This is a great way during the summer that I am able to get a run in. Little Monkey rides her scooter and comes with me.
While sitting at a red light you can flex your stomach muscles and hold for 30-second reps as you wait for the light to turn green. Sounds, silly, but every bit helps. You can wear ankle weights to get exercise while you walk around running errands too.
Get a workout DVD that is only 30 minutes and carve out a chunk of time in the morning or during your child’s nap time. You don’t have to leave the house and it is convenient to do.
This could be a gym close to your office you can sneak into at lunch for a quick 30 min workout. Or for me it was joining the Planet Fitness close to my daughter’s dance studio. She is at dance 4 days a week, so this means I can drop her off and go workout during that time. It isn’t the closest gym to my house, but that’s ok because it is more convenient for me.
These are just a few of the ways to sneak exercise into your busy day without stressing more. Exercise is just as important as other areas in life, but we often neglect to make it a priority.
