Walt Disney World 5k 2016 Recap- Part 1 of Dopey Challenge

I flew in to Orlando from California Wednesday evening with just enough time to run to the expo before they closed and caught the very last night ever of the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights.  I’m a little devastated that they will no longer be a Christmas tradition.

This is why the next morning for the Walt Disney World 5k I decided to dress as my own little tribute to the Osborne Lights.IMG_7096

The weather was much colder than I had planned, so I am glad I decided on this race outfit because it was long sleeves.

The race started at 6am and the course is through Epcot.

IMG_7102I stopped for a picture with Timon.

FullSizeRenderMarie the cat was over in France on the backside of Epcot.

IMG_7125Stich was over near Soarin.

IMG_7121The only downside about the 5k is that it is dark the whole time, but on the flip side it is really fun to get to run around Epcot in the dark.

IMG_7131I finished with time to spare and got my Pluto themed medal.

IMG_7139I waited in line to see Pluto after the race because he is just so darn cute.

IMG_7145I ran the race in the new 2016 runDisney New Balance Ariel Vazee Pace.  They felt amazing!

Stay tuned for my recaps from the Walt Disney World 10k, Half Marathon and Full Marathon that I ran as part of the Dopey Challenge, 48.6 miles in 4 days.
Who else ran the Walt Disney World 5k?
