Disneyland 10k Race Recap- Dumbo Double Day Part 1 2015

I ran the Disneyland 10k as part 1 of my Dumbo Double Dare Challenge. I had run the Disneyland 5k the day before and was running the Disneyland Half Marathon the day after.  My sister who is not a runner, but a huge Disney fan, registered to run the 10k with me.  My goal was to have fun and get her to the finish line.  Our alarm went off at 3:40am and the first thing my sister said to me was “I don’t want to do this.”   I think that is a common thought one race mornings for most people right?

IMG_5996We decided to dress as Disneyland Railroad train conductors.  We are big fans and thought that would be a fun costume.  The race started at 5:30am.  The first 2 miles were outside the park and then we made our way into California Adventure.  I love how they have the World of Color fountains going during the races.

IMG_5999Train conductors and trolley operators wear the same outfits, so of course we stopped for a picture with “our people”.

IMG_6014We found our train backstage.

IMG_6018Smee and Captin Hook were out in Fantasyland.

IMG_6028We then made our way through the castle.

IMG_6040Brer Bear and Brer Fox were out near Splash Mountain.

IMG_6027Last picture before existing the park to run through DowntownDisney was with more of “our people”.

IMG_6049I am happy to report that my sister made it to the finish line with plenty of time to spare.  I am very proud of her.  She also told me that even though when she woke up she just wanted to go back to bed, she was so glad she didn’t.  She had a great time.  I loved the villains theme of the Disneyland 10k this year.

Who else ran the Disneyland 10k?
