After attending the the Hyundai Santa Fe Epic Playdate in April it made me realize how much fun my whole family has outdoors. You can read more about that event on my post here: http://wp.me/p3ktHG-uq. This summer I want to have an epic playdate of our own at a redwood forest near our house.
I would love to camp in a real tent like I did every summer with my family when I was a child. We can drink hot chocolate in the morning and look at the stars at night. We can sing campfire songs and make smores. I can teach my 3 year old how to perfectly burn a marshmallow so it is gooey in the center, but not quite like charcoal. At the redwood forest near us there are tons of hiking paths to go on adventures. It would be great to pack a picnic to take with us and do a fun little day hike. We can go to the huge redwood that you can actually stand inside of. I’m sure my daughter will want to take it home with her for a perfect backyard fort. (Good luck to my husband in advance trying to build that.)
My daughter got her first kids camera and what better way to break it in than a playdate in the redwoods! Since my father was a teacher we didn’t have a ton of money so camping was a regular playdate for us, but those are also some of the most epic memories I have of my childhood and I want to create those with my daughter too. Getting dirty, singing silly songs, and learning new things…that sounds like an epic treat.
I got the idea about the redwoods when I saw a video and read a post from Oh Happy Day http://clvr.li/14ae7EA about their playdate in a redwood forest.
Doesn’t this just make you want to go enjoy nature and show your kids how amazing it can be to be out and “unplugged”?
